The Gray King

I did this for my Senior Illustration Studio 1 class. The assignment was to do our dream project. Something we've always wanted to do. So I chose to illustrate something from Susan Cooper's The Gray King. This is at the end of the book when Will is starting to wake the sleepers. The swans come out before the sleepers.

This is done with Gouache.

Mermaids

I finished the illustrations for a short story that is going to be published in BYU's science fiction journal Leading Edge. The story is about killer mermaids who live in a spring that is the source of water for some orange groves. Every eclipse the orange farmers lure divers into the spring to be killed, which makes their trees really healthy and stuff. It's pretty cool. Also creepy.

Some new stuff

This first one I did about a year ago, and then I did a re-do. The third one is what it turned out like. For class we had to take a piece and redo it and make it better.

I think the finished one turned out a lot better than the very first one.

Here's a really mediocre landscape that I did for my plein aire painting class. It's of Utah Lake. The second one is of a lady with an eye patch with the same landscape behind her. All I have felt like drawing lately have been people with eye patches.

This is the course I am currently working on for work. I only have one more Unit to go, and then I'm done, and I go to Wales!

It's about British Romantic Poets....though, they are looking a bit weird now that they are uploaded. Usually the illustrations are a little more crisp looking than this.

So I downloaded an app to update my blog from my itouch and I am just testing it. I want to be able to blog a bit when I am in Wales.

War of the Worlds is finished!

I have finally finished War of the Worlds, which means I've also finished ENGL51. I've been working on this same course for a year straight...I'm happy and sad to be done with it.

Here are the final images for the war of the worlds thingy. The broadcast will be playing as these appear on their screen.

The text on some is a bit off, but i'll be fixing that later.

The beginnings of Ella Enchanted

For class we are illustrating a story of our choice. I chose Ella Enchanted, since I read that book about 50 times when I was younger, and a good amount when I was older, too. I have to do 9 total. Here are three of them.

In the second one, the blank space will have text. The eye bugs me in the third one.
